The roots of our emblem “GO-MON”

Kyoto has been the capital of Japan for a thousand years, and there is no doubt that this city is the center of Japanese culture. Having met here by chance and founded UNSTUDIO, we want to pay tribute to that history and also involve in it.

The motif we chose for this collection is Buddhism, the mandala of Esoteric Buddhism. A mandala is a symbolic representation of the world in which Buddha exists, arranged in paintings and temples, with images and statues of Buddha. We tried to express our worldview here by incorporating the spelling of "UNSTUDIO" in kanji into a new design that pays homage to this motif.

The lotus flower that frames the design is also a symbol of purity in Buddhism. The petals blooming in the mud are imbued with the idea of UNSTUDIO serving as a talisman. Today, in the 21st century as you navigate through this world, storms are brewing and as a result rings the alarm, we offer you a pinch of blessing from us.
